3553  Senator Faulkner: To ask the Minister representing the Prime Minister—

(1) Has the system of performance pay for secretaries of departments been based on formal agreements with individual secretaries; if not, why not.

(2) On what basis has performance pay been awarded in the absence of formal agreements.

(3) If formal agreements have been used, have secretaries had an opportunity to participate in formulating these agreements.

(4) Who are the parties to these agreements.

(5) Have any agreements been formally documented; if not, why not.

(6) Has there been any systematic discussion with secretaries of their performance in relation to any agreements; if so, who has participated in these discussions.

(7) Have secretaries been involved in determining the quantum of their performance pay; if not, why not.

(8) (a) How many secretaries have received performance pay; and (b) what amounts have they been paid.
