UNITED NATIONS INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON POPULATION AND
DEVELOPMENT--MINISTERIAL STATEMENT

The Minister for Immigration and Ethnic Affairs (Senator Bolkus), by

leave, made a statement relating to the outcomes of the United Nations

International Conference on Population and Development held in Cairo, 5

to 13 September 1994.

Senator Bolkus, by leave, moved--That the Senate take note of the

statement.

Debate ensued.

At 4.30 p.m.: The Acting Deputy President (Senator Childs) reminded the

Senate that the sessional order of 2 February 1994 provided for General

Business to be called on at this time.

Leave was granted for the time for the debate on the Ministerial

statement to be extended to allow Senators Reynolds and Harradine to

conclude their speeches.

Debate continued.

On the motion of Senator Foreman, the debate was adjourned till the next

day of sitting.
