MANAGEMENT OF PROPERTY LEASES--ORDER FOR PRODUCTION OF DOCUMENT

Leave refused: Senator Spindler sought leave to move a motion relating

to the production of a document.

An objection was raised and leave was not granted.

Suspension of standing orders: Senator Spindler, at the request of the

Leader of the Australian Democrats (Senator Kernot) and pursuant to

contingent notice, moved--That so much of the standing orders be

suspended as would prevent Senator Kernot moving a motion to provide for

the considerationof a matter, namely a motion to give precedence to a

motion relating to production of a document by the Auditor-General.

Debate ensued.

Question put and passed.

Senator Spindler, at the request of Senator Kernot, moved--That a motion

relating to the production of a document by the Auditor-General may be

moved immediately and have precedence over all other business this day

till determined.

Question put and passed.

Senator Spindler moved--That a report by the Auditor-General be laid on

the table, as soon as practicable, with respect to the management of

property leases under the control of Australian Estate Management:

Whether that management is effective and conducted without undue risk

to the Commonwealth or distortion of the relevant property market.
