DISCUSSION OF MATTER OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE

The President informed the Senate that Senator Durack had proposed that a matter of public importance be submitted to the Senate for discussion, viz: ''The total ineptitude of the Attorney-General in the Tasmanian spy planes fiasco, his failure to explain his actions in any credible sense and his utmost reluctance to admit the error of his ways''.

And at least four Senators having risen in support of the proposed discussion- The President called upon Senator Durack to speak.

Discussion ensued.
