Senator McKIM (Tasmania) (19:09): I'll be brief. The Australian Greens will be supporting these amendments. We think that this legislation is an entirely reasonable place for them to be placed and moved, for the reasons Senator Patrick has just outlined. We believe that if these amendments were adopted they would significantly improve transparency and scrutiny of government and, therefore, people's capacity to be more informed, open to more information and better able to hold government to account.
