Senator HANSON-YOUNG (South Australia) (18:52): If it helps, I will go to the essence of my amendment. That might help the minister in answering the question that has been put to her. The amendment circulated by the Australian Greens is in relation to putting a time limit on the length that people are able to be transferred to a processing facility offshore. The Australian Greens believe there should be a time limit, and that is why we are moving an amendment to limit the time to 12 months. Currently there is no time limit within the legislation. I ask the minister: what is the government's definition of 'indefinite detention'.
