Senator MILNE (TasmaniaLeader of the Australian Greens) (18:38): Thank you, but I asked what else. As far as I can see, the minister only has to get an assurance that the receiving country will not send a person back to their own country or to a place where their life might be endangered and that they have to assess them as refugees. There is nothing there about any other rights, except to say:

may have regard to any other matter which, in the opinion of the Minister, relates to the national interest.

It goes on to talk about the national interest being border security, national security, defence, economic interests and so on. I want to know where there is any guarantee about access to the law, access to health, access to education, access to any services. Where is any of that?
