Senator MILNE (TasmaniaLeader of the Australian Greens) (18:07): That is a deliberate evasion, Minister. I want a yes or no answer here, because that is what the public deserves. This fudging of the issue is absolutely critical. You refused to answer the question about exempting the minister from providing natural justice to refugees. I asked whether that is consistent with our obligations under the human rights convention and the refugee convention, and your answer is, 'Oh, we only have to table it in the parliament,' and that is deemed somehow relevant to the question. It is not relevant to the question. The question I asked is whether taking away natural justice from refugees is consistent with Australia's obligations under the human rights convention—we will not even go to the rights of the child—and the refugee convention.
