Senator McLUCAS (Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Health and Ageing) (12:15 PM) —Thank you for the question. I am advised that the minister may give written directions to Infrastructure Australia about the performance of its functions, asking them to undertake a piece of work. But the way the bill is drafted is to explicitly indicate that the minister cannot, essentially, ask Infrastructure Australia to provide him or her with advice that he or she wishes to have. So it is making it clear that a minister cannot seek confirming advice, if that is a way of explanation.
