Senator COONAN (Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts) (5:26 PM) —My understanding of the situation—and I will be corrected if I give you incorrect information—is that gender reassignment enables people to marry, but not to someone of the same sex. So if somebody has a gender reassignment and they wish to marry somebody who is not of their sex, that is supported by this act.
