Senator IAN MACDONALD (Minister for Fisheries, Forestry and Conservation) (1:54 PM) —We have spent so much time arguing about the procedural motion earlier that there is no time to discuss these important matters. The government finds the amendments unacceptable. They create a situation where terrorists, paedophiles and other serious criminals can escape Australian law enforcement authorities by using foreign travel documentation. This amendment seeks to remove that and we of course disagree with that so we oppose the amendments.
