Senator RIDGEWAY (12:15 PM) —The issue I raised was in relation to the review of that particular mechanism as to whether or not it is achieving what the negotiators or the government may believe is an effective way of resolving disputes, particularly in terms of some of the principles I spoke about earlier—the question of openness, transparency and accountability. I understand that it was raised earlier in the debate that much of the discussion of this joint committee will be done in private, as opposed to being open. Will a review look at whether or not it is more suitable to have a public and open process and even look at having non-government members involved in the process—whether or not that might also include public input from people commenting on social or health policy, for example, in terms of that mechanism being effective?
