Senator LUDWIG (4:46 AM) —It is disappointing to find ourselves at this hour in a position where the opposition will not be insisting on the amendments. The opposition does believe that the amendments were worthy of consideration by the government, but clearly the government has not found favour with the amendments that were put forward by the opposition. Given the time, I will not go into the detail in any significant way other than to indicate that the opposition will be continuing to watch this area with interest and, should the area start to unravel, as we think it will, then we will certainly be seeking to have these matters re-aired in this chamber.

Question agreed to.
