Senator TROETH (Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry) (12:52 PM) —The Taxation Laws Amendment Bill (No. 5) 2002 represents the government's commitment to a better tax system on two fronts: responsiveness to emerging problems with the existing law and the finetuning of tax reform measures. It contains four measures—all of which will be of value to taxpayers or to the integrity of the tax system. I commend the bill to the Senate.

Question agreed to.
