Senator HARRADINE —My question, which is directed to the Minister representing the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, relates to the devastation caused by Typhoon Thelma in the Philippines, the resulting enormous loss of life and the fact that this is the worst natural disaster in the Philippines in the last 16 years. Could the Minister advise the Senate of what practical steps the Australian Government has taken or will take to alleviate the suffering and homelessness of those that have been so affected by this natural disaster?

Senator BUTTON —I do not have a briefing on that matter. I did see at the weekend that the Australian Government had made a donation—Dr Blewett announced a donation to the support of those people who are victims of that situation. I will try to obtain details of that by the end of Question Time.
