To the Honourable the President and members of the Senate in Parliament assembled.

The petition of the undersigned citizens of Australia respectfully showeth that:

1. The continued presence in Australia of the United States bases make this country a target for nuclear attack;

2. These U.S. bases are integral parts of the global nuclear war machine;

3. Australia should be governed in the interests of Australians and foreign bases are not in our interests.

Your petitioners most humbly pray that the Senate, in Parliament assembled, should:

Support the Australian Democrats' Foreign Bases (Pine Gap Base) Removal Bill which requires the Government to wind up operations at the Joint Defence Space Research Facility-better known as Pine Gap, by terminating the agreement under which it operates in Australia.

And your petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray.
