(Question No. 1089)

Senator Bolkus asked the Minister representing the Minister for Science and Technology, upon notice, on 24 August 1984:

(1) How many word processors, stenographers and typists are employed in the Minister's Department.

(2) As of 1 September 1984, how many such staff have been, or are, off work with repetition strain injury or suspected repetition strain injury.

Senator Ryan —The Minister for Science and Technology has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question:

(1) In respect of the Department of Science and Technology: word processors- forty-six (46); steno-secretaries-forty-eight (48); typists-thirty-three (33); as well there is one clerical assistant who undertakes 50 per cent typing duties .

(2) Twenty-seven (27).
