Senator CHANEY (Leader of the Opposition)(10.27) —I understood that the Minister for Education and Youth Affairs, Senator Ryan, deleted from the motion which she moved on behalf of the Leader of the Government in the Senate, Senator Button-the motion which was not formal but debated by leave-that paragraph which, in fact, would have had the effect of the motion she has now moved. There seems to be some misunderstanding here. The red sheet points out under the heading 'Presentation of Papers' that Senator Tate will bring down a report on behalf of two committees. I am not sure whether the motion which Senator Ryan has proposed would exclude the consideration of those committee reports. Until there is some clarification the Opposition will oppose the motion that has been moved. I hope that we will have the support of the Australian Democrats and Senator Harradine.

The PRESIDENT —As I understand the matter, the motion that has been moved by Senator Ryan relates merely to the consideration of orders of the day.
