East West Link

Dear Dr Jensen

Thank you for your letter dated 27 November 2014 regarding a petition submitted for the consideration of the Standing Committee on Petitions regarding the East West Link.

The Australian Government committed to the East West Link because of the transformative positive impacts it would make to the Australian and Victorian economies. It had the potential to address Melbourne's current transport challenges, improve accessibility to important economic and employment centres across the city and create an immediate boost to the economy through its job creation potential.

The Australian Government is keen to ensure that important nationally significant projects proceed such as those which were in the Victorian Infrastructure Investment Programme. We will work collaboratively with the new Victorian Government to agree infrastructure priorities that are in the best interests of the Victorian and Australian economies.

I thank you again for taking the time to write to me on this matter.

from the Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, MrWarrenTruss
