Mr O'DOWD (Flynn) (16:23): This week, 18 to 26 August, we celebrate Seniors Week. The Central Highlands Regional Council will host a Seniors Week event at Blackwater in Central Queensland on Tuesday, 21 August. At the Blackwater Civic Centre, we'll host approximately 250 to 300 seniors. A luncheon will be provided by the Central Highlands Regional Council and the federal government, as will free bus transport for those golden oldies coming from Duaringa, Dingo, Bluff, Emerald, Yamala, Capella, Springsure and Rolleston. A big thanks to Minister for Regional Development, Territories and Local Government, Minister McVeigh, who helped sponsor the day under the Building Better Regions Fund.

Seniors Week is an opportunity for Queenslanders of all ages to get together and celebrate the valuable contribution these people have made over their lifetime. This is an opportunity to say thank you to the golden oldies. I'd like to say that Dawn Fraser—an Australian legend and icon—will be there as the guest speaker. The oldest male and female guests will be crowned Senior King and Queen for the week.
