Environment


Mr BURKE (WatsonManager of Opposition Business) (15:02): My question is to the Minister for the Environment. Can the minister confirm that the government first gifted almost half a billion dollars to a small private foundation in a closed door meeting and has now gifted $25 million of environment funds to an institute co-founded by multinational oil giant Chevron which funds Chevron's work in the minister's own electorate?

Ms PRICE (DurackMinister for the Environment) (15:02): Thank you for the question. I will have to take the question on notice with respect to Shell. I think that's fair enough. I don't have the information on that. What I do know is that we are—

Ms PRICE: So I will take that on notice. Thank you. What I do know is that we have a strong budget, we have a strong record on the environment and we're very proud of our announcements so far—

The SPEAKER: I will say to the minister that she's entitled to take a question on notice. The standing orders and the Practice make it clear. If she's going to do that, that's what she should do and we'll move to the next question.
