Mr BEAZLEY (2:01 PM) —Thank you, Mr Speaker. I agree completely with the Prime Minister on this and with all the sentiments that he expressed. Indeed, some of the matches were inspirational, particularly the victory of the Woodies. They came from a very difficult situation to take the match—and therefore take the tie, basically—in what was an excellent performance. Although it is invidious to single out players, I do think it was a very good thing that Mark Philippoussis came through so well in the two matches that he played. He will no doubt be extremely pleased with that, as will the captain be of his charges. It has been an extraordinary year for Australia in sporting terms. I think there is scarcely an international championship that we have not taken in the course of it, even through to baseball where we would never have been fancied players anywhere in the globe, I wouldn't have thought, till this point in time. So this has truly been an absolutely magnificent year for us and it gives all Australia, let alone those of us in politics, great joy.
