Mr RUDD —Recently in the electorate of Griffith we were able to extend awards to a range of seniors who had made large contributions to the local community. I would like particularly to honour the contribution of Mr Jack Maume of Cannon Hill for more than 30 years service with St Vincent de Paul. Others honoured in this ceremony were Mr Bill Appleby of Camp Hill for his work with Neighbourhood Watch; Mr Neil Bain of Mansfield, also with Neighbourhood Watch; Mrs Shirley Campbell of Mount Gravatt for her longstanding work as a fundraiser for the Mater Mothers Hospital; Mr Robert Chester-Master of Camp Hill, also active in the Neighbourhood Watch movement; Mrs Vera Clarke of Cooparoo for 30 years of volunteer work with the PA hospital; Mr Ray Foster of Murarrie, also with Neighbourhood Watch; Clifford Grimley of Carindale for work with the government on the redrafting of the Retirement Villages Act; Carmel Heath of Cannon Hill for longstanding work with netball; Evelyn Kolb of Bulimba for 30 years work with Bulimba Meals on Wheels; Laurie Latham of Morningside, the administrator of the Balmoral Uniting Community Centre; Irene Murphy of Greenslopes for 12 years voluntary work to assist the frail aged; Aubrey Panton of Stones Corner for voluntary service to many community organisations; William Purcell of Camp Hill for Home Assist Program work; Betty Rees of Cooparoo for work with the Cooparoo Uniting Church; Edna Sanford of Morningside for Meals on Wheels; Babs Shield of Bulimba with the Bulimba Senior Citizens Centre; Robert Thacker of Holland Park with the Buranda Therapy Group; Joan Thompson of Camp Hill, for work with Girl Guides and Meals on Wheels; and Ken Wilson of Mansfield, for the Mount Garatt Meals on Wheels. All are deserving of this recognition. (Time expired)
