To the Honourable the Speaker and Members of the House of Representatives in Parliament assembled.

This petition of the undersigned citizens of Australia respectfully showeth that we strongly oppose the introduction of the `Australia Card' or any other form of National Identification Numbering System.

We believe that the introduction of a national Identification Numbering System is not only totally unnecessary but is a severe threat to our civil liberties and privacy. We condemn the Government's actions on this matter, particularly as no reasonable nor responsible justification for the proposal has been forthcoming from the Government.

We humbly pray that the House of Representatives, in Parliament assembled, should reject any proposal for a National Identification Numbering System.
