Mr HUNT(12.34) —I also support the honourable member for Boothby (Mr Steele Hall) in complimenting the honourable member for Sturt (Mr Wilson) and the Special Minister of State (Mr Beazley) in respect of this matter. We are very indebted to the honourable member for Sturt for having pressed this issue. It is not the first time that he has done so. We have had a very objective response from the Minister. I am very grateful to the Minister for his attitude on this issue. I am sure that it is an issue to which the Joint Committee could turn its mind. I have no doubt that the Minister will make appropriate submissions when the issue is being dealt with. I am sure that he has highlighted a deficiency in the Act as it now stands. I am quite convinced that some action needs to be taken in terms of constraint to place the Territories in a position similar to those of the States.

Amendments negatived.
