Mr HODGMAN —I have redrafted my notice of motion. I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move and the right honourable member for New England (Mr Sinclair) will second:

That this House-

(1) notes with the gravest concern, persistent and substantive reports of threats, harassment, improper pressuring, intimidation and actual blackmail against certain members of the Federal Parliament; and

(2) therefore formally records that 7 November 1983 was the beginning of the end of the Hawke socialist government.

Mr Holding-Mr Speaker, I raise a point of order. The allegations made by the honourable gentleman, if they were true, would involve serious breaches of the privilege of this Parliament. Therefore, I invite the honourable gentleman to raise the matter as a matter of privilege, being aware of the fact that to move a motion of privilege or to alleged breach of privilege frivolously is in itself a breach of privilege.

Mr SPEAKER —I accept the point raised by the Minister. It is probably more appropriately a matter of privilege. Does the honourable member wish to address himself to that matter?

Mr Hodgman —Yes, Mr Speaker. I accept the point raised by the Minister.
