Mr PORTER —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move :

That this House-

(1) is of the opinion that the effect of the proposed wine tax will be to-

(a) reduce the intake of grapes in 1984 by up to 100,000 tonnes;

(b) reduce the income of grape growers in 1984 by around $17m; and

(c) inevitably lead to the loss of jobs in vineyards, wine production, packaging, transport and marketing; and

(2) calls on the Government to implement its election promise not to impose any impost on wine.

The motion will be seconded by the honourable member for Wakefield (Mr Andrew).
