Mr HODGMAN(1.15 a.m.) —The Minister for Health (Dr Blewett) has refused to give a direct answer to the matter raised by the honourable member for North Sydney (Mr Spender). The point is that the honourable member for North Sydney has caught the Minister out. The Minister claims that because he supports pluralism, this provision does not mean the Australian Medical Association will not be consulted but it does take away a statutory provision which hitherto required the Minister to consult with the AMA. I again ask the Minister why he draws a direct distinction between the amendment to this clause and the provisions of proposed section 80.

Clause agreed to.

Clauses 50 to 56-by leave-taken together, and agreed to.

Clause 57 (Prohibition of certain medical insurance).
