Department: Promotional material and merchandise

Mr Keogh asked the Minister representing the Minister for Communications and the Arts, in writing, on 12 September 2018

What sum was spent on promotional material and merchandise for the Minister's department and agencies in 2017-18, and of this, (a) what types of promotional material and merchandise were produced, and (b) what policy areas did this relate to.

The Gallery did not produce promotional material and merchandise for a particular policy area. All material and merchandise is produced to raise awareness of the Gallery, the Gallery's collection and temporary exhibitions.


National Film and Sound Archive


Flyers, posters and booklets to promote its public program of events and film screenings. Additionally, corporate documents such as our Digitisation Strategy were also produced and printed.


Australian National Maritime Museum


Promotional material and merchandise

The expenditure was incurred to increase brand awareness of the museum to promote cultural engagement, visitation and self-generated revenue opportunities

Promotional merchandise sold in the NLA Bookshop on a commercial basis included:

Photographic postcards of items from the Library's collections relating to exhibitions

A small range of items produced for the 50th anniversary of the Library building including two silk scarves printed with designs by artists Ellis Rowan and Leonard French; NLA50 Keep Cups and National Library building cookies

Promotional material and merchandise was produced to promote and raise awareness of the Library, its collections, services and public programs
