Human Rights

"ICESCR Article 11 states: The States Parties to the present Covenant recognize the right of everyone to an adequate standard of living for himself and his family, including adequate food, clothing and housing." This is from www.humanrights.gov.au. This states that the basic human right of adequate housing is recognised, yet there are still no housing options for those who are homeless, particularly for youth who struggle to pay for even the most affordable housing, while still feeding, clothing, and transporting themselves.

We therefore ask the House to enquire into the reasons emergency accommodation and other such services are unavailable, enquire for resolutions to these reasons, and take action into providing the homeless, especially youth who are homeless, with adequate opportunities to rebuild themselves in a safe environment that is within their needs and restrictions, i.e. time, affordability, location, education, work.
