EAGER TO SERVE TO ENSURE REGION’S CONTINUED PROSPERITY

The November 24 Federal election will be a choice to continue the region’s current prosperity, or risk wall-to-wall Labor with its record of high unemployment and economic mismanagement, Federal Member for Wannon, David Hawker, said today.

“I am offering to again serve the people of Wannon as part of the Coalition Government, which has delivered record employment, opportunity and prosperity to Western Victoria and Australia,” Mr Hawker said.

“I’m as enthusiastic as ever about our great region.

“I have been privileged to serve the people of Wannon and, with their support, will continue to:

• Secure strong growth for the region, providing future opportunities and security for the next generation; • Help our farmers, families and small businesses get through the current drought; • Create further educational opportunities for our youth, building on the success of the local

Australian Technical College; • Support practical measures to improve the environment and build on the region’s renewable energy developments; • Promote preventative health initiatives in the region; and • Make our roads safer.

“I will also work hard to:

• Secure funding for the Warrnambool Harbour and Portland foreshore redevelopments; • Duplicate the Western Highway between Ararat and Stawell; • Safeguard Hamilton’s long term water supplies; and • Extend Broadband and mobile phone coverage for smaller communities in the region.

“I offer experience and a proven track record of delivering for the people of Wannon. As a local Western Victorian, I know the issues that matter to local people, and am seeking their support to continue to progress the region.

“We simply cannot afford to risk the region’s current prosperity under a Rudd union-controlled ALP.”
