Senator Bolkus —I am advised that the answer to the honourable senator's question is as follows:

  (1) The cost of services from the Media Marketing Group (MMG) during the 1993-94 financial year for the Department is $33,462.

  (2) Services provided for the cost included design, artwork, copywriting, display, photography and related services in respect of the Business Skills promotion campaign targeting successful overseas business people. They also included tasking and managing printing and graphic design firms, photographers and other sub-contracted agencies. Materials resulting from the services include a 32 page glossy brochure, Australia Welcomes Business People, a major new advertising and design series (including posters, fliers and a photographic catalogue), advertising artwork for several publications, a "corporate" folder (see item 3 below), some printed success stories (fliers) and other design and photographic material.

MMG also provided services to the Department primarily in connection with the Australian Citizenship Pledge cards and posters. These services were in the form of concept, design, artwork, research, film separation and proofs.

  (3) The service costs were $3,350. Services provided for packaging and distributing corporate folders involved arrangements for folders to be shrink wrapped in bundles of five, then in outer packs in bundles of 15, to avoid damage in transit. The total cost of $12,900 included $9,550 paid to other agencies, principally for freight costs to 23 overseas destinations and within Australia.

  (4) Nothing was within the corporate folders at the time of dispatch.

  (5) Six thousand corporate folders were packaged and distributed.

  (6) Each folder is used to hold an information package tailored to serious inquirers for Business Skills migration who respond to the promotion campaign. Packages contain a letter from myself and quality information material from Federal, State and Territory government agencies, major banks, legal and accounting firms and other commercial agencies on living and doing business in Australia.

  (7) The corporate folders were packaged and distributed to Australian missions in London, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Bonn, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Nairobi, Los Angeles, Suva, Tokyo, Pretoria, Athens, Rome, Osaka, San Francisco, New York, Ottawa, Santiago de Chile, Paris, New Delhi, Manila and Chicago, The Australian Commerce and Industry Office in Taipei and to Departmental offices in Australia.

  (8) No gold prints were processed at a cost of $15,970. The production and printing of the 6,000 corporate folders involved gold foiling and gloss cello glazing as part of a four colour process. The total production cost, including this process and printing, was $15,970.

  (9) As noted in (8) there are no gold prints. The corporate folders are now at the destinations identified above.

  (10) As noted at (8) no gold prints were processed. Six thousand corporate folders were produced.
