Acting Discrimination Commissioners reappointed.

ACTING DISCRIMINATION COMMISSIONERS REAPPOINTED
I am pleased to announce that Acting Race Discrimination Commissioner, Dr William Jonas AM, and Acting Disability Discrimination Commisioner, Dr Sev Ozdowski OAM have been reappointed for 12 months.
Dr Jonas is currently the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner and has been the Acting Race Discrimination Commissioner since September 1999.
His new term as Acting Race Discrimination Commissioner starts on 4 April 2003 and runs until 3 April 2004.
Dr Ozdowski is currently the Human Rights Commissioner and has been the Acting Disability Discrimination Commissioner since December 2000.
His new term as Acting Disability Discrimination Commissioner starts on 4 April 2003 and runs until 3 April 2004.
I thank both Dr Jonas and Dr Ozdowski for their dedication to race and disability issuses respectively throughout their last terms.
Both continue to make important contributions to progressing discrimination issues in Australia.
These reappointments have been made in light of the important reforms to the structure and focus of the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission contained in the Australian Human Rights Commission Legislation Bill 2003, introduced into Parliament on 27 March 2003.
