Summary

Introduced with the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Bill 2006 (AML/CTF Bill), the bill: amends the Financial Transaction Reports Act 1988 (FTR Act) to remove references to the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (the existence of which continues under the AML/CTF Bill) and provide for the continued application of the FTR Act to cash dealers not covered by the AML/CTF Bill. Also makes consequential amendments to the FTR Act and 14 other Acts and the Financial Management and Accountability Regulations 1997 and includes transitional provisions.
