GREAT BARRIER REEF MARINE PARK AND OTHER LEGISLATION AMENDMENT BILL 2008

Explanatory memoranda: The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Health and Ageing (Senator McLucas) tabled supplementary explanatory memoranda [2] relating to the government amendments to be moved to the bill.

Senator Macdonald moved the following amendment:

 Schedule 2, item 1, page 12 (after line 10), after subsection 10(6A), insert:

  (6B) At least one member must have knowledge of or experience in the tourism industry or another industry associated with the Marine Park.

Debate ensued.

Senator Macdonald, by leave, amended the amendment as follows:

 Omit "or another industry".

Debate ensued.

Question—That the amendment be agreed to—put and passed.


The Leader of The Nationals in the Senate (Senator Joyce) moved the following amendments together by leave:

 Schedule 6, item 9, page 114 (line 26), omit "searching for, or taking, fish", substitute "taking fish".

 Schedule 6, item 9, page 114 (line 27), omit "search for, or take, fish", substitute "take fish".

 Schedule 6, item 9, page 114 (line 29), omit "locating of, or taking of, fish", substitute "taking of fish".
