Revised Australian Citizenship Test

Those wishing to apply for Australian citizenship are encouraged to get a copy of a new resource book from Dr Sharman Stone, Federal Member for Murray.

Dr Stone said there have been a number of changes to the citizenship test so it is important for those looking to become Australian citizens to get the most recent and correct information.

“The new citizenship test will focus on the Pledge of Commitment that new Australians make when becoming citizens,” Dr Stone said.

“The test will still be in English only, will take up to 45 minutes to complete and people use a computer to answer questions. The test contains 20 multiple choice questions drawn from a random pool reflecting Australian values and responsibilities. A person can be assisted with the test where the helper reads out the questions in English and operates the computer.

“The pass mark for the test has been raised from 60 to 75 percent and unlike past tests, there are no mandatory questions so each random question will have equal weight.

“People over 60 do not need to sit the test.

“Questions cover topics such as Australia’s democratic beliefs, the responsibilities and privileges of citizenship, government and Australian law.

“All the questions are drawn from the new revised test resource book.”

“If you would like a copy of the revised citizenship test resource book Australian Citizenship: Our Common Bond, please give my office a call toll free on 1300 132 413 or stop into my office at 426 Wyndham Street, Shepparton to order a copy free of charge,” Dr Stone said.
