Farm Ready industry grants

The Rudd Labor Government is offering its second round of Farm Ready Industry Grants funding to help farmers adapt to climate change.

Primary producers, primary industries and natural resource management groups can apply for grants of up to $80,000 and indigenous land managers and primary producers are eligible of reimbursement of $1500 for participation in approved training courses.

Dr Sharman Stone, Federal Member for Murray said the funding is available to support farmers to adapt to climate change, mitigate its effects and encourage best management techniques.

“While any new funding is welcome it is important that the Rudd Labor Government realises that our biggest problem right now is not climate change but water policy and the lowest prices on record for dairying and some other sectors.

“While the rebate for $1500 worth of training is always worth while it would be far more useful if the Rudd Government considered the $74 million dollars requested to bail out the dairy industry over the next 18 months.

“Meanwhile applications for the grants close 5pm Wednesday 30 September. For more information visit www.daff.gov.au/climatechange/australias -farming-future/farmready ,” Dr Stone said.
