The Hon Andrew Robb AO MP Shadow Minister for Finance and Debt Reduction Federal Member for Goldstein

Tuesday 10 August 2010

Wayne Swan must confirm today whether he or the Treasury was the source of an alleged confidential Treasury note leak to the Sydney Morning Herald.

The reported Treasury note relates to the interest payable on Labor borrowings for the NBN and was used by Mr Swan to launch another of his bordering on hysterical attacks on the Coalition.

If it proves to be a leak from Treasury then it will call into question whether the Coalition can have confidence in submitting its costings to Treasury for objective analysis.

Mr Swan this morning indicated he had knowledge of the alleged note, but said he was not in a position to publicly release it and refused to do so.

Mr Swan must confirm today whether he, or his office, provided this note to the Sydney Morning Herald.
