Michael Organ, MP

Press Release

The closeness of today's Federal ALP leadership ballot shows just how deeply divided the Labor Party still is, Cunningham MP Michael Organ said this morning.

"Mark Latham can take little comfort from defeating Kim Beazley by 47 votes to 45", Mr. Organ said.

"Federal Labor is in disarray and Mr. Latham faces a very big ask in re-uniting the parliamentary wing before the next Federal election."

"His habit of shooting from the lip, as he did during the Cunningham by-election when he claimed that electing a Green would result in closing the steelworks and cost the region 10,000 jobs, will not help Labor to unseat the Howard government", Mr. Organ said.
