LABOR SNUBS VETERANS - AGAIN

Labor today has confirmed its lack of commitment to the veteran community.

Not one Labor member turned up to question the Minister for Veterans' Affairs during the time allocated for debate on the Budget Appropriations Bills.

The Member for Cowan, representing the Shadow Minister for Veterans' Affairs in the House of Representatives, Mr Graham Edwards, was absent.

Mrs Vale deplored the absence of the Opposition.

"I'm disappointed that there is not one question to be asked on behalf of veterans," Mrs Vale said.

This is the third strike for Labor in the Veterans' Portfolio.

Strike One: Labor's policy platform contained no policy initiatives for veterans.

Strike Two: The Opposition Leader, Mark Latham, did not mention veterans or war widows once in his Budget reply.

Strike Three: Opposition members didn't turn up when they had the chance to

question the Minister on the content of the Budget for veterans.
