NEW PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY FOR CO M M U N ICA TIO N S. ARTS AND TOURISM

The M em ber for Parram atta,[Mr Paul Elliott) has been appointed P arliam entary Secretary to the Minister for Com m unications and the Arts, and M inister for Tourism, [Mr Michael Lee."]

M r Lee said today he was delighted that the Prim e M inister had appointed M r Elliott as his Parliam entary Secretary in these im p o rtan t portfolio responsibilities.

M r Elliott's new duties will be in addition to his existing position as P arliam entary Secretary to the Treasurer, M r Ralph Willis.

"Paul Elliott w ill bring his considerable talent to a num ber of areas w ithin m y portfolios and I have every confidence, in his ability to assist m e in these m atters," Mr Lee said.

M r Elliott has been the m em ber for Parram atta since 1990 and becam e Parliam entary Secretary to the Treasurer in 1993. He w as an A lderm an at the P arram atta City Council from 1977 to 1991 and becam e the youngest ever M ayor of Parram atta in 1984. He was C hairm an of both the C aucus

Budget W orking G roup and the House of Representatives Standing C om m ittee on Banking, Finance and Public A dm inistration.
