LABOR'S SMALL BUSINESS PLAN - ACO (Attack, Criticise & Obstruct)

“How can Labor afford the ignorance they are displaying toward Australian small business? They can’t. Labor are very comfortable attacking the Government’s achievements and initiatives, yet they do not have any plans to benefit small business.” said Minister for Small Business and Tourism, Fran Bailey.

“Under the Labor Government small businesses suffered an environment of economic disaster. Small business won’t forget the high interest rates of 20.5% and an unemployment rate of 10.9% under Labor.”

“In the last election Labor demonstrated once again that it is no friend of small business. By proposing a number of measures that would increase red tape and compliance costs, increased unwanted trade union involvement, introduce new small business taxes and charges and reduced workplace flexibility.”

“Labor then went on to propose a national payroll tax, compulsory small business redundancy payments and abolishing AWAs. Surely they are not serious when they declare they are small business friendly.”

“Who else but Opposition would criticise this Government’s Entrepreneurs’ 25% Tax Discount, which will assist approximately 540,000 fledgling small businesses, nearly a third of all Australian small businesses by providing $1.2 billion worth of tax cuts?”

“Obstructing the Government’s $21.7 billion worth of personal and business tax cuts is not something to be proud of and I am sure Australian small business operators and their workers would agree. Today the Member for Lowe, John Murphy was quoted as saying “We [Labor] are proud to block the [Government’s] tax cuts.” in response to the Government’s $21.7 billion worth of tax cuts.

“When will Labor cease their hypocrisy and start listening to small business and their needs? This Government has been listening and will continue to deliver strong economic growth, low interest rates, low inflation, low taxes and flexible workplaces allowing small business to thrive and prosper.”
