Hartsuyker Welcomes New Aged Care Beds

The Nationals’ Federal Member for Cowper, Luke Hartsuyker, today (Wednesday)

welcomed the granting of licences for 20 new aged care beds in South West Rocks.

“The community fought long and hard for an aged care facility in South West Rocks,

which is now being built,” said Mr Hartsuyker.

“The new licences mean that there will be a total of 80 places available in the town.

I know many elderly residents will welcome this, rather than having to move to

Kempsey or Macksville, which also posed problems for visiting family members

relying on public transport.”

The roof has just been placed on the new facility. Ten of the new licences will be for

high-care beds and ten for low-care. This means that there will eventually be 50

high-care beds and 30 low-care in South West Rocks.

A spokesman for the developers, Mr Steve Profke, said: “This is great news for

South West Rocks, given that the facility will be open in December and the new

beds will be coming on line from that date.”
