STATEMENT BY THE TREASURER, THE HON JOHN HOWARD, MP INTERNATIONAL MONETARY FUND - CONSULTATION WITH AUSTRALIA

The International Monetary Fund is to hold an Article IV

Consultation with Australia from 22 November to 5 December.

A mission of IMF officials will be visiting Australia for discussions

with Government Departments and the Reserve Bank.

The visit will be one of a regular program of consultations held

by the Fund with all its members. These consultations enable the

Fund to keep itself well informed on past and prospective

developments in the economies of member countries.

The most recent IMF Consultation with Australia took place in

October/November 1978.
