EMBARGO IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CHANGE IN AIDC BOARD

The Treasurer, Mr Howard, announced today that Mr G.M. Running had resigned from the Board of the Australian Industry Development Corporation, after seven years service, due to pressure of other commitments.

Replacing Mr Running on the Board is Mr L.T. Froggatt, of Melbourne, who is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Shell Group of Companies in Australia. Mr Froggatt, whose appointment is for three years, takes up office today.

Mr Bunning, a prominent Perth industrialist and company director, had been a Director of AIDC since its inception.

Mr Howard said that the Government appreciated the distinguished service given by Mr Bunning during his seven years on the AIDC Board.

Mr Howard said that Mr Froggatt, an Australian with a distinguished career in the diversified international operations of The Shell Group, would bring to the Board valuable commercial skills and experience particularly in marketing and finance.
