With the a b o l i t i o n of the Departments of Housing, C i v il A v ia tio n , A ir, Army, Navy and E x te rn a l T e r r i t o r i e s , th e a s s o c ia te d M i n i s t e r i a l p o r t f o l i o s cease to e x i s t .

By th e se changes the number of departm ents is reduced from 37 to 31. Other changes - the a b o l i t i o n of the

Department o f Customs and Excise and the Department o f Supply a r e s t i l l under c o n s id e r a tio n .

Mr. Nimmo be ap p ointed a Commissioner under the Royal Commissions Act to undertake an in q u iry in to the impact o f f r e i g h t r a t e s on the Tasmanian economy.
