STATEMENT BY THE MINISTER FOR PRIMARY INDUSTRY THE RT. HON. IAN SINCLAIR M.

CANBERRA

7 FEBRUARY 1979.

TARIFF ON ORANGE JUICE

A further extension of the present tariff on orange juice —

currently 65 percent — will be made from 28 February 1979

until 31 March, 1979.

The Minister for Primary Industry, Mr Ian Sinclair, and the

Minister for Business and Consumer Affairs, Mr Wal Fife,

announced this today.

This action would extend the existing level of protection for

a further month during the current processing season for

Valencia oranges and allow processors to continue this season's

processing under present protective levels.

It would enable the international position to become clearer

before the Government gave final consideration to the I.A.C.

report, the Ministers said.
