The Department of the Capital Territory has been advised by Rheem

Australia Ltd that the fault which could cause gas leaks in vehicles

fitted with LPG tanks can now be corrected.

This follows investigation by the company and the NSW Department

of Industrial Relations and Technology, the'results of which were

conveyed to Canberra yesterday.

Owners of such vehicles Should contact the company at Eyshwick on

804743 for an inspection and to bring the tanks back into service.

Each tank will be labelled and the vehicle owner given a certificate

so that the tank can be refilled or the vehicle submitted for

registration. Vehicles with LPG in Rheem tanks have not been allowed

into the motor vehicle testing stations since late October.

All ACT LPG filling stations are being notified that Rheem tanks with

the recommissioning label may be re-filled. .
