NEW DIRECTOR GENERAL OF RECRUITING

The Defence Force is to get a new Director

General of Recruiting.

He is Group Captain T.C. Owen, RAAF, who

takes over from Commodore I.M. Burnside, RAN, who is

retiring.

Group Captain Owen, who is currently Officer

Commanding RAAF Base, East Sale, Victoria, will be

promoted acting air commodore when he takes over his

new post on May 28, 1979. .

BIOGRAPHICAL DETAILS:

Group Captain Trevor Cecil Owen enlisted in

the RAAF as an air cadet in 1948. On graduation as a

navigator he served at a number of RAAF bases in Australia,

and with No. 1 Squadron, RAAF, in Singapore. In 1953

he served as an exchange officer with the Royal Air

Force, and 10 years later was posted to the United

States,again to fill an exchange post. He attended the

Indian National Defence College in 1975, and in 1977 was

appointed Officer Commanding RAAF Base, East Sale, Victoria.
