VISIT OF THE MINISTER OF DEFENCE TO THE UNITED KINGDOM

The Minister for Defence the Hon. D.J. Killen,

M.P., will visit the United Kingdom from 21 to 28 January

at the invitation of the British Secretary of State for

Defence, the Rt. Hon. Fred Mulley, M.P. Mr Killen will

have discussions with Ministers and senior officials.

While in the United Kingdom Mr Killen will visit

a number of defence and industrial establishments, including

the shipyard of Brooke Marine at Great Yarmouth where the

lead patrol boat of the fifteen new vessels to be

acquired by the RAN is under construction. As has

previously been announced, the remaining vessels are to

be built in Australia.

On Australia Day, January 26, Mr Killen will

address the annual dinner of the British-Australia

Association in London.
